Two Words

by Russell Crook

My first Father's Day came real soon,
With my wife of two years and this new baby's room.
God gave us a son and soon added two more,
Our family's complete on a journey unsure.

As my boys grew, they learned how to walk,
It didn't take long till they began to talk.
The world was brand new and at every turn
"Why Daddy?" they asked as they tried hard to learn.

As they grew and matured and tested their wings,
They began to re-question some of these things.
What was once "Why Daddy?" had become "Why not?"
Their questions got harder and required much thought.

My boys have all grown, I have answered "why not?"
They've made me so proud, they've learned what I taught.
My answers they will use as well as their own.
There are grandchildren now that bless two homes.

I now look back at all the fun I've had,
My boys are now men. Sometimes I get sad.
On the phone or in person, of this I am sure,
"Hi Dad" from my boys are my Favorite Two Words.
Hi Russell,
Thanks for the Father's Day letter. You always know how to say things just right...

You have probably heard a number of times, how quickly time passes by, and it is so true but let me remind you that the last 25 years have gone by much quicker than the first 25. Life is really wonderful when you live it with the right person, like your Mother. God bless you and your family. We love you.

Dad
