A very dear friend left us the other day,
And we sure were not ready for him to go away.
But if I said, I know best and I know the man
He deserves to be with me in Heaven's Land.
What rejoicing there must be in Heaven today
As Jesus says "I've been waiting for you Ray.
You've served me well while on earth each day,
Well done my good and faithful friend.
Receive your crown of righteousness and life without end."
The angels must be singing and Ray joining in,
Oh so beautiful the City, such happiness therein.
While on earth we are saddened at the passing of our friend,
A man loved by all who knew him.
He walked with us for a few short years,
And for our loss we all shed tears.
But we are better because we knew him,
Because he cared.
Reta, my wonderful friend,
So inadequate I feel within.
I want so to ease your pain,
But I fall short again and again.
Only God in His infinite mercy and love
Can soothe the pain and give you peace from above.
