Gulf sealife, creatures from Sherman's Lagoon and an outdoor turtle exhibit await visitors at the Texas State Aquarium. An exhibit opened this spring that displays Sherman's Lagoon comic strips and sea creatures from the Pacific Ocean of a type that often appear in the comic strip.

Officials recently opened Conservation Cove, a large outdoor area that is home to sea turtles and river otters. Other attractions include a shark-petting tank, hermit crab touch tank, an exhibit depicting life around an offshore oil platform and a Sealab educational center.
