At the north end of Mustang Island is the small town of Port Aransas. It offers many shops and restaurants for the adventurous. This is also the primary route for shipping into the bay. Two jettys create an inlet and also provide a great place for fishing. Many people also come here to watch for dolphins. The jetty protrudes into the gulf about 1/3 of a mile.
